RT-PCR testing facility is now available at 12 government laboratories of the state
RT-PCR testing is being done in all nine government medical colleges, AIIMS Raipur and virology lab in Baikunthpur
Balodabazar, Janjgir, Dantewada and Jashpur districts to get virology labs soon
Raipur 24 February 2022/ Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education Minister Mr. TS Singh Deo on Thursday launched Virology Lab for Covid-19 RT-PCR testing in Durg through video conferencing. With the inauguration of this lab, RT-PCR testing facility is now available at 12 government laboratories of the state. This will help increase number of daily RT-PCR tests besides speeding up turnaround time for results.
Durg (City) MLA Mr. Arun Vora, Health Department Principal Secretary Dr. Maninder Kaur Dwivedi, Health Services Director Mr. Neeraj Bansod, National Health Mission Director Dr. Priyanka Shukla, Durg Collector Mr. Sarveshwar Bhure, State Nodal Officer of Virology Lab Dr. Kamlesh Jain and medical experts of Microbiology Department of AIIMS Raipur and Raipur Medical College also joined the virtual launch programme.
“RT-PCR is the most reliable and accurate test for detecting active Covid-19 infection. RT-PCR testing facility has already been started in all government medical colleges of the state and Korea district headquarter, Baikunthpur. Now, the number of daily tests will increase with the commencement of RT-PCR testing facility in Durg. Besides, this new facility will help in early identification of Covid-19 patients and provide them timely treatment”, said Health Minister Mr. TS Singh Deo on the occasion.
He added that the work of setting up virology labs in Balodabazar, Jashpur, Dantewada and Janjgir is also in progress and RT-PCR testing facility will start in these districts at the earliest. MLA Mr. Arun Vora expressed his gratitude to the Health Minister Mr. Singh Deo for setting up Virology Lab in Durg.
