Raipur, April 04, 2022 / According to the latest data released by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), the unemployment rate in Chhattisgarh has fallen to 0.6 per cent in March, which is the lowest so far. Chhattisgarh ranks first in the country with the lowest unemployment rate. Meanwhile, in March, India’s unemployment rate stood at 7.5 per cent.

According to the data, Chhattisgarh tops the states with the lowest unemployment rate in the country with 0.6 per cent. The State Government has undertaken several steps and formulated new policies for generating employment opportunities especially for the youth, resulting in constant decline in the unemployment rate. According to the data released by CMIE as on 2 April 2022, Haryana has the highest unemployment rate at 26.7 per cent, followed by Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir at 25 per cent each, Jharkhand at 14.5 per cent, Bihar at 14.4 per cent, Tripura at 14.1 per cent, and Himachal Pradesh at 12.1 per cent.
The Chhattisgarh government adopted a new model of development three years ago in line with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of ‘Gram Swaraj’, with a goal of inclusive development of the state. Under this model, schemes and programmes like Suraji Gaon Yojana, Narva-Garva-Ghurva-Bari programme, Godhan Nyay Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana, establishment of Rural Industrial Parks, procurement of collection and value addition of Minor Forest Produce are being implemented for boosting rural economy. New employment opportunities are being created in rural areas with the effective implementation of these schemes which are giving impetus to the holistic development of the state.
Even during the first and second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, the economy of Chhattisgarh remained untouched by the nationwide economic slowdown. Even then the unemployment rate in Chhattisgarh remained completely under control. The State Government has formed “Chhattisgarh Employment Mission” with an aim to create around 15 lakh new employment opportunities in the coming five years.
According to the latest report, India’s unemployment rate stood at 7.5 per cent. The urban unemployment rate at 8.5 per cent and the rural unemployment rate at 7.1 per cent.
