Bhent-Mulaqat : Chief Minister commenced the distribution of crop insurance claim to farmers from Dantewada

Nearly 1.5 lakh farmers of 17 districts will receive the claim amount of Rs 307.19 crore

Chhattisgarh is leading state of the country in terms of insurance claim payment for Rabi crops and horticulture crops

Raipur, 24 May 2022 / Providing a major relief to the farmers of the state, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel commenced the distribution of Prime Minister's crop insurance and weather-based insurance claim amount for horticulture crops from Dantewada. Under the insurance scheme for Rabi and Horticulture crops, as many as 1.5 lakh farmers of 17 districts of the state will receive the claim amount of total Rs 307 crore 19 lakh. Chhattisgarh is the leading state in the country in terms of payment of insurance claims to farmers for Rabi crops.           Congratulating the farmers of the state, Chief Minister said that all the programs for farmer welfare are being conducted smoothly in the state. Industries Minister Mr. Kawasi Lakhma, MP Mr. Deepak Baij, MLA Mrs. Devati Karma, MLA Mr. Vikram Mandavi, Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi were present on this occasion. Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Mr. Ravindra Choubey, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Director Agriculture Mr. Yashwant Kumar, Director Horticulture Mr. Matheswaran V. joined the program through video conference.

It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel is on a tour to Bastar region under Bhent-Mulaqat Abhiyan. To ensure the timely distribution of crop insurance claim amount to farmers without delay, Chief Minister did the online inauguration of the distribution process from Dantewada itself, instead of capital city Raipur. Earlier, he had commenced the distribution of amount under Godhan Nyay Yojana from Ramanujganj, during his tour to Sarguja Division under Bhent-Mulaqat Abhiyan.

On May 21, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel distributed Rs 1804 crore to 26 lakh 67 thousand farmers of the state under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Godhan Nyay Yojana and Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana and today Rs 307.19 crore was distributed at his hand as crop insurance claim. Agriculture Minister Mr. Ravindra Choubey congratulated the departmental officers and said that in a span of just four days, more than Rs 2111 crores have been paid so far to the farmers of the state.
Chief Minister said that under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana, about one lakh 45 thousand farmers of 17 districts of the state are being paid Rs 297 crore 9 lakh as insurance claim, and under the weather based insurance scheme for horticulture crops, Rs 10 crore 10 lakh is being paid to 4747 farmers. He said that in Kharif season 2021, a claim amount of total Rs 752 crore has been paid to 3 lakh 97 thousand farmers of the state.
Agriculture Minister Mr. Ravindra Choubey said that the month of May has been auspicious for the farmers of the state. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has transferred more than Rs 2100 crores directly into the bank accounts of farmers under various schemes of Chhattisgarh government. He said that Chhattisgarh has become an agricultural model state of the country under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel. Chhattisgarh is running the highest number of farmer welfare schemes in the country. Chhattisgarh is also leading in terms of implementing Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana and providing its benefits to the farmers of the state.
Agriculture Minister said that cultivation of horticulture crops are being rapidly expanded in the state. Efforts are on to ensure that more and more farmers avail the benefits from horticulture crops. Minister Mr. Choubey said that many states have discontinued the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana due to non-payment of premium and other reasons, whereas in Chhattisgarh, the implementation of crop insurance scheme is being implemented successfully to protect the interests of farmers. In the last three and a half years, Rs 4200 crore has been paid to the farmers of the state as crop insurance claim.
At the onset of the program, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamalpreet Singh informed about Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana and said that this scheme is being implemented from Kharif season 2016. Under this scheme, farmers have to pay only 2 percent premium for Kharif crops such as paddy, maize, groundnut, soybean, tur, moong and urad and 1.5 percent for Rabi crops such as wheat, gram, rye-mustard and linseed. Half of the remaining insurance premium amount is the state-share and central share. He informed that Chhattisgarh is successfully providing the benefits of crop insurance cover to the farmers of the state. The claim amount being provided to the farmers is almost double the premium amount, because of crop damage due to bad weather and low production.
Under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana (Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme) in Rabi season 2021-22, 59,766 farmers of Rajnandgaon district (highest in the state) will be paid the claim amount of Rs.102.14 crores, while 38,414 farmers of Bemetara district will receive Rs.98.18 crores, 6478 farmers of Balod district will receive Rs 14.63 crores, 22294 farmers of Kabeerdham district will be paid Rs 38.04 crores, 13423 farmers of Durg district will be paid Rs 36.31 crores, 3418 farmers of Dhamtari district will receive 6.69 crores as insurance claim, 796 farmers of Mungeli district will receive Rs 92.50 lakhs, 32 farmers of Balodabazar district will get Rs 5.80 lakhs. In this way, farmers of 17 districts including Sarguja, Kanker, Balrampur, Bastar, Bilaspur, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Jashpur and Raipur will be benefited by the payment of crop insurance claim amount.
