Chhattisgarh will emerge as a hub of high value minerals

Investors from across the country gathered in the Stakeholders Conference organized by the Department of Minerals

Industries and investors were urged to make more investment in the mining sector of Chhattisgarh

Raipur, September 02, 2022 / Representatives of mining related public enterprises and private companies from all over the country gathered today at the stake holders conference organized by the Department of Mineral Resources and Directorate of Geology and Mining . The conference was organized in Circuit House of the capital Raipur, where extensive discussions took place on mineral resources and their immense possibilities in Chhattisgarh. It was told in the conference that high-value minerals like rare earth elements, lithium and gold are available in abundance in Chhattisgarh, and the mining and extraction of these resources will provide employment to a large number of people as well as generate revenue. Director of Mineral Resources Department and Directorate of Geology and Mining Mr. J.P. Maurya informed that a cell will be formed soon in the Mineral Department, through which the investors will be informed about the different kinds of mineral resources and the future prospects of mining processes in Chhattisgarh.

Strategy regarding the auction of mineral blocks and exploration of high value minerals available in the state was also discussed in this conference. In this important event, investors from different parts of the country were urged to invest in the mining sector of Chhattisgarh and it was assured that necessary facilities including infrastructure would be provided to them in Chhattisgarh.

The Stakeholders Conference was inaugurated by the Director of Mineral Resources Department and Directorate of Geology and Mining Mr. J.P. Maurya. He said that Chhattisgarh is abundant in numerous natural resources which can be tapped by investors and industries. He further said that Our state has a major contribution in the economy of the country and the success of the concept of sustainable development depends on the fact that we use the mineral resources in such a way that they are utilised properly. Our imports should be minimal and there should be enough export potential. Also, the mining process should be done keeping in mind the environmental friendliness and mineral conservation.

Keeping in mind the industrial utility in future for the demand of the mineral ,Mr. Maurya said that there is also a need to adapt green technology to explore the future prospects of mining in the state. The state of Chhattisgarh is poised to play the role of a leading state in Vision 2047 and we are moving towards developing mineral potential in key areas. Our priority is to assess the availability and quantity of high value minerals like Lithium, Tin, Gold, Copper, Nickel and Diamond using latest technology.

Mr. Maurya also informed that for the first time in the country, blocks of minerals have been allotted to 6 private agencies for exploration of minerals in Chhattisgarh. In the past, more than 100 potential mineral blocks have been identified on the basis of exploration done by various government agencies in the state of Chhattisgarh, which are being assessed at a fast pace according to the criteria of auction. He said that till now we have issued tender inviting notices for 40 mineral blocks of various minerals like Gold, Iron Ore, Limestone and Bauxite and have successfully auctioned 15 blocks.

Mr. Anurag Dewan, Joint Director of Minerals Department said that limestone, iron in infrastructure and coal in power generation and copper aluminum are used in the flow of energy. He informed about the online mineral scheme, e-transist pass system, availability of mineral resources, schemes run by DMF in the districts launched to bring efficiency and transparency in departmental activities. On this occasion Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Amarnath Prasad, Deputy Director of Geological Survey of India Partho Dutta, Special Secretary of Finance Department Ms. Sheetal Shashwat Verma, Deputy Director of Minerals, Mr.Mahipal Singh, U.K. Qureshi,Mr. Harish Dhruv, Mr. Sanjay Khare, Ms. Anju Singh, Ms. Seema Choubey, Deputy Director Ms. Prachi Awasthi and representatives of private mining companies including PSUs were present.
