Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel had envisaged a healthcare scheme namely ‘Mukhyamantri Shahari Slum swasth yojna’ that would provide free of cost treatment for the residents of slums with the help of mobile medical units. So far, more than 27 lakh people have been treated by designated medical teams of Mobile Medical Unit by reaching the slum settlements. Under the scheme, doctors, paramedical teams, 120 mobile medical units equipped with medical equipment and medicines are now providing health facilities to the people in the slums of the urban areas of the entire state. Through this scheme, so far five lakh 78 thousand 239 patients have been provided with the facility of pathology tests and free medicines have been given to more than 23 lakh 8 thousand 637 patients. It is worth mentioning that two lakh 46 thousand 481 labourers are also among the patients benefitted under the scheme.
Under the Chief Minister’s Urban Slum Health Scheme, run by the Urban Administration and Development Department of Chhattisgarh Government, so far 38 thousand 990 free of cost camps have been organised for the slum residents of 169 urban bodies of the state. Urban Administration and Development Minister Dr. Shivkumar Dahariya has directed the departmental officers that free medicines should be made available to the people of the cramped settlements of urban areas and other needy people after conducting a preliminary health check-up.
It is worth mentioning that to provide health facilities to the people living in slums of 14 municipal corporation areas of the state, the first phase of Mukhyamantri Shahari Slum Health Scheme was started on 01 November 2020. Under this, health check-up and treatment and medicine distributions were started by going to slums by 60 mobile medical units. On 31 March 2022, it was expanded to the entire urban body areas of the state and 60 more mobile medical units were started for further expansion.
