Raipur, 02 October 2022/ Chief Minister Mr Bhupesh Baghel today attended the program on “Gandhi, Youth and Challenges of New India'” organized by Culture and Archaeology Department at Shaheed Smarak Bhavan. On the occasion, Chief Minister announced ‘Anupam Mishra Award’ for the individuals and organisations working in the field of water recharging. He announced that an award will be instated in the memory of renowned litterateur Shri Habeeb Tanveer as well.
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamps and garlanding the oil paintings of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Ex-Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and Chhattisgarh Mahtari. On the occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel released the book titled ‘Sonakhan 1857’ authored by Mr. Ashish Singh and book named ‘Johar Gandhi’ authored by Amir Hashmi. On the occasion, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Pradeep Sharma, MLA Mr. Devendra Yadav, Secretary Culture and Archaeology Department Mr. Anbalgan P, Culture Department Director Mr. Vivek Acharya and nearly three thousand young members of Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club.
Addressing the program, Chief Minister said that today is the day to remember Gandhiji and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Various belongings of Mahatma Gandhi have been preserved and put on display in Magan Museum, located in Wardha. Gandhiji conducted in-depth research on the spinning wheel ‘charkha’, and agricultural equipment and also organized various incentive programmes to encourage the same. All the revolutions that have taken place across the world were started by the youth, which led to major reorganization of the society. Gandhiji showed the path of self-reliance, love, truth, non-violence and led the entire nation to attain freedom.
In his address to the youth, Mr. Baghel said that Gandhiji sacrificed his clothing and became the embodiment of minimalism. He inspired people to minimize their needs and live a simple life. He asked the youth to spend their time and energy searching for new ideas and works. He said that Gandhi fought with non-violence, truth and love. Gandhiji showed the path of becoming self-reliant by creating self-employment with hard work and dedication. He inspired youngsters to serve the needy and suffering humanity. The experience of life would have weighed heavily on the knowledge of the book. Shri Baghel gave the example of Divyang Dhurve, a young farmer from Balod, whom he met during the Bhent-Mulaqat, and said that hard work and dedication is the Gandhian way of character development as well as of success. He said that the self-confidence our sisters of working self-help groups is our biggest asset. Confidence comes from hard work, which can win even the toughest of the battles.
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel further said that Gandhiji honoured ‘Karm’ and ‘Shram’. He used to work in the fields among the farmers, and he brought honour to the weavers by spinning the charkha. Gandhiji respected the hard work, and he brought millions of people together for the cause of honouring hard work and labour. Mr. Baghel said that we are yet to achieve freedom socially and economically. Youth is our strength and young energy needs to be channelized. There is a need to make collective and organized efforts to provide them opportunities.
Mr. Baghel said that Chhattisgarh has taken major leap towards promoting self-reliance and self-employment. The state government has started procurement of cow dung, cow urine (gaumutra), and so far nearly 20 lakh quintals of vermi compost has been produced. We have the highest number of fertilizer factories in the entire country i.e. 8,500. And this is how, Chhattisgarh is on its way to become an organic state. Youth are earning lakhs of rupees by joining organic farming. He said that many initiatives have also been taken in the direction of environment conservation in Chhattisgarh. We have started promoting water recharging. We have appealed to the farmers to donate hay to avoid pollution caused by stubble burning. As a result, the utility of water, forest and land has increased.
Mr. Pradeep Sharma said that in his youth, Gandhiji had tied the whole country with a mantra of truth and non-violence. Young Rajiv Gandhi made the country a leader in the field of information technology. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel is taking forward this resolution. Mr. Ashok Khosla, President, Development Alternatives, New Delhi said that Gandhi ji has shown us the path of how we can create a bright future for the youth. By following his ideas, we can establish a self-reliant and an ideal society. Dr. Vijay Mahajan, Director, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation Delhi praised the Government of Chhattisgarh for the schemes implemented in the direction of saving water, forest land and resources while motivating the youth for sports, self-employment, goodwill and revival of culture. Lt Gen Shri Arun Sahni, Ms. Aika Chaturvedi and Dr. Vibha Gupta also addresed in the program.
