Uttar Bastar Kanker: Rs.63 crore 8 lakh 47 thousand transactions performed by the Bank Correspondent (BC) Sakhis

The Bank Correspondent (BC) Sakhis of Kanker district have been involved in a transaction of Rs.63 crore 8 lakh 47 thousand that took place between April to December in this financial year. District Collector Dr. Priyanka Shukla congratulated the group of BC Sakhis for this achievement and she encouraged them to do more good work in the upcoming days. BC Sakhis provide facilities for Pension payment, MNREGA wage payment, operations related to Jan Dhan account, and other personal transactions. Collector Dr. Priyanka Shukla took a meeting of the National Livelihood Mission (Bihan) today and did a detailed review of bank linkage of women SHGs under NRLM, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, BC Sakhi’s work, Project Unnati, etc. . District Program Manager, Development Block Program Manager, Regional Coordinator, and Young Professional were also present along with District Panchayat CEO Mr.Sumit Agarwal.

Bank linkage of women SHGs under NRLM was reviewed by Collector Dr. Priyanka Shukla who instructed them to send 100 percent of cases to banks by the month of January. Such women SHGs, whose bank accounts have not been opened yet, were directed to open their bank accounts immediately.

It was discussed in the meeting that Rs 42 lakh has been paid to 21 persons under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Rs 18 lakh to 09 persons under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. Along with this, three persons who had insurance under both schemes, have been paid Rs 2 lahks to them. Thus, Rs 72 lakhs have been paid to 33 persons for insurance claims. Under Project Unnati, 161 MNREGA workers were provided training in Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) Govindpur instead of 138. It is noteworthy that under MNREGA, laborers who have worked for 120 days are provided training for skill upgradation and business under Project Unnati. Collector Dr. Priyanka Shukla congratulated the associated team for providing training to more people than the target and she directed to pay compensation to the concerned persons.
