The state government’s ambitious Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan is being implemented efficiently in the tribal-dominated Dantewada district and is bringing positive changes in the overall health and nutrition level of children and women by providing them nutritional diets. The main objective of this scheme is to reduce the rate of malnutrition and anemia in the district, and include locally available nutritious, protein, iron-rich food items in their daily life. Under the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan, normal and malnourished children of 1 to 3 years and pregnant mothers are benefited through Anganwadi centers in the district, and the nutritional diet of children from 3 to 6 years and pregnant women is being maintained through nutrition centers. The scheme aims to provide a nutritional diet that meets the daily requirement of protein and fat and also to bring public awareness against malnutrition and anemia in general and to create an active environment to curtail it. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel commenced the Suposhan Yojana to fight against malnutrition on 2 October 2019. Under the scheme, children and mothers are given free nutritious food every day. Eggs, jaggery and ladoos made of peanuts are being provided under the scheme. This scheme has proved to be extremely beneficial in lowering the malnutrition level by providing nutritious food to children and women. It is noteworthy that the death rate of pregnant mothers has also come down with the implementation of this scheme. Efforts are also going on at the local level to get rid of malnutrition. Anganwadi didis play a significant role in providing a balanced diet for pregnant mothers by visiting house to house. Pregnant mothers are also informed about nutritious dishes, proper care of children, and proper nutrition and vaccination of pregnant women. It is worth mentioning that since the inception of the scheme, 94 thousand 828 people have benefited from the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Yojana. Along with this, 4 thousand 412 children have been freed from malnutrition.
