Products are being made from Oyster mushrooms cultivated organically
State government’s Suraji gram scheme bringing a wave of social change in the villages

It is a well-known fact that Mushroom curry is a tasty and nutrient-rich dish. But the women of Padma Maa Bamleshwari self-help group in Jangalpur village of Rajnandgaon district have adopted an innovative approach of manufacturing delicious pickles, badi and papad made of Mushrooms. The women of State Rural Livelihood Mission Bihan have shown collective unity and solidarity in their work and are earning a substantial income from these products. They are also doing organic farming of oyster mushrooms. After mushroom cultivation, mushrooms are processed to make pickles, badi and papad. As a part of marketing, attractive branding and packaging is being done by the women of the group. It is noteworthy that Mushrooms are very beneficial for health. In view of its demand in the market, the women of the group are engaged in mushroom production as well as the processing and supplying packed mushrooms. The state government’s Suraji Gaon Yojana has brought a wave of social change in the villages. The women of the group have taken significant steps towards economic empowerment. Their skill has been recognized by organizing Bihan Mela in the district under the guidance of Collector Mr. Doman Singh. Under the direction of District Panchayat CEO Shri Amit Kumar, such events have encouraged the women of the group.
Mrs. Ranjit Sahu of the group informed that there was an exponential sale of mushroom pickles at the development block level Bihaan Mela of Dongargaon, district level Bihaan Mela Rajnandgaon and Lok Mandai Dongargaon. As of now, an income up to Rs.50,000 has been earned. There are 21 self-help groups in Jangalpur. The women of the group are involved in various activities in the Gothans. Mrs. Janaki Sahu and Mrs. Bismat Sahu of the group also informed other women about the method of making mushroom pickle. During a short training session, people also learned to make a sweet and sour special sherbet made from the flowers of Amari Bhaji.. This sorbet is digestive and cooling and is very beneficial in summer. Nutritional Information about mushrooms was also given on this occasion. Mushrooms are rich in Vitamin B1, B2, B9, B12, Vitamin C and Vitamin D2. Its use is effective in various diseases including diabetes, heart disease, and weight loss.
