Engages with Ku. Bhumika Bhuarya from North Bastar Kanker, discusses development in the region
Raipur 08 January 2024// Celebrating the successful execution of Central Government schemes in Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi expressed his happiness, stating that “the benefits of these initiatives are reaching the grassroots seamlessly, and the residents of tribal-dominated areas are reaping the rewards of government schemes.”
Prime Minister Shri Modi virtually interacted with beneficiaries from North Bastar Kanker district, aiming to grasp the on-ground reality of government schemes in the camps being organized under the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Chhattisgarh. Addressing beneficiaries at the camp held in village Mankeshri of North Bastar Kanker district, Shri Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to the overall development of the common people, besides highlighting that various schemes have been formulated to improve the standard of living in tribal-dominated regions.
Shri Modi specifically mentioned the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, expressing his happiness that his government had the opportunity to work at the grassroots level for the welfare of the tribal community.
During the virtual interaction with Kumari Bhumika Bhuarya from Bhanbeda village, who attended the camp organized under the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Mankeshri village, the Prime Minister gained insights into the positive impact of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) collection being done by women through Van Dhan Vikas Kendras. Ku. Bhumika shared that the 29 groups in her village engage in the MFP collection, preparation, and sale of Mahua laddoos and Amla pickles, providing benefits to everyone involved. Responding to Shri Modi’s question, Ku. Bhumika mentioned that the group sells Mahua laddoos at Rs 700 per kg. When Shri Modi asked about the other uses of Mahua, laughter filled the programme venue, with Ku. Bhumika and others joining in.
Ku. Bhumika also stated that they are availing the benefits of various welfare schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Swachh Bharat Mission, MNREGA, and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. She credited her awareness of these schemes to her parents and mentioned that both she and her younger brother are pursuing higher education in college. Recognizing the contribution of well-informed parents, the Prime Minister praised their awareness, acknowledging that it has facilitated their children’s access to higher education.
