Raipur, 28 January 2024/ Birhor is a particularly backward tribe which is considered to be the tribe adopted by the President. People of this tribe were so shy till a few years ago that they would flee upon seeing someone approaching while wearing shoes or slippers. To alleviate their fear and include them in the mainstream of development, Shri Jageshwar Yadav pledged to remain barefoot all his life so that Birhors would not shy away from him. Gradually he succeeded in bringing about a major change in their lives. It is the result of his consistent efforts that now the first generation of educated Birhors are ready to make their way in the world. Jageshwar has inspired the Birhors to avail the benefits of various government schemes, which has brought significant changes in their lives and livelihoods.
Jageshwar Yadav was 21 years old when he learnt about the plight of Birhor tribe. Inspired to make a change, Jageshwar resolved to serve Birhors and uplift them in every way possible.
