Cabinet Meeting
Date: 31 January 2024
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai chaired the Cabinet Meeting today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan
Following important decisions were taken in the meeting –
# Fulfilling another guarantee of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Cabinet has taken a major decision in interest of the families engaged in tendupatta collection. The remuneration for tendupatta collectors will be increased from Rs 4000 per standard bag to Rs 5500 per standard bag.
The Cabinet has decided to implement a new scheme to ensure social security of tendupatta collectors. For implementation of this new scheme, 75 percent of the financial assistance will be provided by the government and remaining 25 percent will be provided by Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Federation.
# Cabinet has decided to implement ‘Mahatari Vandan Yojana’ in the state. Under this scheme, married women will receive financial assistance of Rs. 1000 per month, totaling Rs. 12,000 annually, directly credited to their bank accounts through DBT.
The objective of this scheme is to eliminate gender discrimination, inequality and lack of awareness among women in the state and also to improve their health and nutrition level. This scheme will also promote women empowerment and financial independence. The benefits of this scheme will be available to married women who are residents of Chhattisgarh and are aged 21 or above as of January 1, 2024. Widowed, divorced, abandoned women are also eligible to avail the benefits of the scheme.
The Cabinet has decided to repeal amendments made in the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Contract Appointment) Rules, 2012. The notification issued by the previous government in August 2023 stated that after departmental inquiry, if penalty is imposed or if a candidate is punished by the court in a criminal case, then that candidate will be ineligible for contractual appointment. With this amendment, those retired government servants against whom departmental investigation or prosecution case is pending or prevalent were also becoming eligible for contractual appointment. Considering this as inappropriate, the Cabinet has decided to cancel the previous amendment and leave the provision of Contract Rules 2012 as it is.
# Cabinet has decided to implement Bharat (BH) series vehicle registration in the state of Chhattisgarh. Under the BH series implemented by the Government of India, two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles will have to pay tax for two years at one go.
# The draft of Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill-2024 was approved.
